SEASON 1 SYNOPSIS
Janete started her business like several other Mozambican women, with a small stand in front of her house, where she sold egg sandwiches and the delicious bean soup that her mother taught her to make. After a while, she felt it was time to change, to take a step forward in life, and that became decisive when Tina, her eldest daughter, entered the university; she had to start helping her husband pay her tuition fees. That's when Janete set up her first restaurant in the New Market, using only the day-to-day management skills she used at her small business at home. The challenges grow every day, with record keeping, budgets, stock management, business plans and so many other exercises necessary to make a business grow. Janete counts on the help of her friend Elsa and her daughter Tina to make everything work. As her knowledge increases, she gains more confidence, manages to adapt to the adversities of the pandemic, sets up a takeaway business, and creates a brand of Achar that she also sells at the restaurant, opening new doors and perspectives for the future.
